[Current Mood | nostalgic]

This is very sad. Gee Nicholl changed my life, and I'll be grateful to her for as long as I live.

I can't imagine what life would have been like if I hadn't received a fellowship. The people I never would have known, and the adventures I never would have enjoyed/survived.

Take that life-changing experience, and multiply it dozens of times. She provided that to all the Fellows - and the finalists, and the semi-finalists . . .

Look at the names of writers who blossomed because of her support. What an amazing legacy to leave the world, and especially to the writers who benefited dramatically from her generosity and kindness. She validated our passion, and that feeling is overwhelming.

Amazing woman, amazing life.

Drifting in from the ether for a sec. [Aug. 25th, 2008|02:01 am]

So true. And that is the difference between salon/freelance makeup artists and the counter-dwelling brand folks.
No judgment, just fact. Those dollars are still getting spent one way or the other.

Life's good, blog's slow. Calmness is pervasive and I'm grateful for my mostly tranquil little world.

Hey, world. [Apr. 15th, 2008|12:55 pm]
[Current Mood | thankful]

For those folks who know about this thing but don't have LJ accounts:

I've been married for almost two weeks now. And it was absolutely beautiful. Our vows and the dip-for-the-kiss moment were both big hits. Pictures are coming in, and I've gone and cried me some tears of joy. Eray's brilliant and everything looks timeless and gorgeous.

Thanks and love to everyone who shared that day with us. We felt completely surrounded by love and happiness.
Best wedding ever.

-Mrs. Carter.

I now know and understand the distinction between metonym and synecdoche.

You can't front on that. Please believe.

Doing my part. [Dec. 16th, 2007|01:13 pm]
[Current Mood | she's wonderful.]

GO BUY AMAZING PHOTOS AT AMAZING PRICES. WWW.ERAYPHOTO.COM.

Much as I want her closer to me, Eray needs to be in San Francisco living up to her full potential. To do that, she needs funds. And then she can come back to me in April for wedding fun.

Anyway, I've got my eye on that neon GIRLS sign. But oh, there are so many more. These make awesome Christmas presents, and it's high time she made some real money off her talent. Lord knows she's done enough favors to last a lifetime. Go, buy, spread Christmas cheer.

On August 17th: [Aug. 2nd, 2007|11:48 pm]
[Current Mood | excited]

My evening will go like this.

I'm gonna go to Lotta Frutta and get the Limonatta cup or a frutta popsicle. And then I'm gonna go see The Ten, and I'm gonna love David Wain more, and if it's possible I'm gonna love Paul Rudd more, and I will probably still be fairly affectionate toward Jason Sudeikis, Joe Lo Truglio, Ken Marino, Kerri Kenney, and Rob Corddry.
And I will miss Stella and The State, but oh my. This will be a comfort.

Then I'll probably want to make Nate finally watch Wet Hot over the weekend at some point. But that's another plan for another day.

OMFG OMFG OMFG [Oct. 13th, 2005|09:47 pm]
From Greg Beal's monthly letter to Nicholl Fellows:

"We think it may also be a first that four films written or directed by
fellows are on the Variety Box Office chart in the same week. Those
would be IN HER SHOES, THE SKELETON KEY, THE BROTHERS GRIMM and THE
THING ABOUT MY FOLKS. Congrats again to Susannah, Ehren and Raymond.

On the Nicholl Awards Dinner front, Charlie Kaufman has agreed to be
the keynote speaker
.
"

Think I'm grinning right now?
Good call.

Shows what a memorable encounter it was: [Aug. 22nd, 2005|06:48 pm]
I forgot about this 'til just now. But yesterday afternoon, after a screening of "The Brothers Grimm" @ the Academy (really great movie -- Gilliam films are never mistaken for anything else), I bumped into Joshua Jackson at our Whole Foods.
Bearded and in a white t-shirt and looking pretty much like every other guy in the store.
Made eye contact, he looked scared I'd recognize him, I looked scared that some random person was looking at me like that, and then we parted ways and I placed him.

Pacey and Peter Bart love lowfat organic milk just as much as I do, I guess.

Saw Topher Grace (again) with Emmy Rossum at the Groundlings tonight. She's absolutely naturally gorgeous. And absolutely teeny.
One of these traits is common in actresses. One is not.
